Scrapbook Throw Down Day 9!

Mists

Day 9 is using mists. I have never used mists before and actually have never heard of them. I bought a 2 pack of Perfect Pearls Mists with Perfect Pearl and Heirloom Gold at Michaels originally $9.99 and I used a 40% off coupon for $5.99! So a good deal to try it out. I used the Perfect Pearl on purple cardstock. I love the look. It shows better on the darker paper. The only issue is that it curled the paper and I don't have a heating tool so I found a tip on the internet to put weight on the curled paper. I left it on overnight and the paper was much flatter. I used our pictures from the trip to the art museum that has a real cool kid's area.

The picture does not show how cool these really turned out.

Scrapbook Throw Down Day 8!

Stamping

Day 8 is Stamping. I used Studio G stamps on a birthday layout. There are 4 of us in the family with August birthdays and we were given a birthday party. I used one of the tips in the class to make a frame to stamp on. I then stamped the cupcake on paper and colored with my Copic markers.

Fabric

Day 10 and the last day :( is about using fabric. So I got to try out some of my sewing skills again. I need some help!

I did a layout about last Father's Day. I used some airplane fabric I had since it kind of goes with the picture of Lee playing with his remote control helicopter present.

Journaling as the Focus

Day 6 of the scrapbook class is to create a layout focusing on journaling. I got the idea I built it around from Pinterest. There is a pin on there about Importand Dates for your family. You are suppose to put the dates of birth, date of marriage and the date of birth of your kids. I changed the idea so that the important dates start with the date my husband I met. I thought this was a good time to figure out some of the dates and write my thoughts about them since Our Anniversary is February 23! Eventually, I am going to use my Silhouette to cut out vinyl and frame the dates.

I then added some embellishment fiber on the side and bottom.

I added the chipboard word lovely because that is how my husband Lee signs his notes to me.

Valentine's Day Projects

Love Letters!

Pinterest is my new time zapper. I saw this idea on making letters out of cardboard. I did L O V E.

First you need a bunch of cardboard. I measured so the letters were all about the same size. Then cut the top out and make a bottom for each letter. I then cut about an inch wide cardboard pieces for each letter for the sides and then taped the letters together. 

It takes a lot of cardboard.

The finished letters. It does not matter that there is holes in the side of the E since the yarn will cover it. I even cut out a heart in the O. And again it is not perfect but the yarn will cover it. The directions I saw said to glue yarn on the end but that did not work for me so I glued pieces of scrap paper to the ends that correspond to the yarn.





Finished letters. I tightly wrapped yarn and then did some loose wrapping to add some texture.

Something I added that I did not see on Pinterest is I used pipe cleaners to add some Valentine's Day elements to each letter. Lips for the L; heart for the O; XO for the V; and an arrow for the E.





Scrapbook Throw Down Day 7!

Ribbon

Alright, I got some thread, figured out how to load a bobbin and fired up my new Suzi Singer! I bought Gutterman thread but I think I bought the wrong type. I decided to sew the ribbon on the paper and then sewed across the top and bottom. I then quickly found a way to cover that sewing since it was very uneven. I am hoping practice makes perfect. I stacked some corresponding colored buttons. I notice that most scrappers don't use a full sheet of patterned paper like I normally do so I tried that out on this page.

Scrapbook Throw Down Day 5!

Handmade Embellishments

Day 5 of the Throw Down is making your own embellishments. Latrice gave an example of cutting out circles from tissue paper. I did it but cut out hearts and then used heart brads in the middle. I also sewed on some buttons. I cut out the You & Me with a border maker from Creative Memories, I made the heart with my Sillhouette and the paper is from The Paper Studio. My husband hates this picture but I love it because it was a fun night.

Scrapbook Throw Down Day 4!

Use 6 or more photos.

I usually stack on the photos to my pages so I can skip the pesky journaling. I did a 2nd page to go with my stitching page about Chris the Elf. This page shows some of the trouble Chris got into at our house this year. I did some more stitching too. I used the Sew Easy Piercer again and did a scallop edge and used green variegated floss. I used a similar design of paper from my Ornamental Christmas pack just a different color.

I cut up a journaling card to put under each picture and I outlined them with floss and added a french knot to each corner.

I like on the scallop edge how some of the floss went through the photo. I think it adds something. In the future I am going to try my new sewing machine to stitch over photos.

Scrapbook Throw Down Day 3!

Stitching. I always thought I would need a sewing machine for this but Latrice introduced me to doing handstitching. I love cross stitching and it is the same idea. I think I went overboard but this is what I did. I cut out the letters on my Silhouette and then outlined them with variegated red floss.

I then used the Sew Easy Stitch Piercer with the scallop attachment along the bottom. I did a french knot at the peak of each scallop.

I cut out the elf legs and shoes with my Silhouette and added gold bells to the tips of the toes.

Scrapbook Throw Down Day 2!

The Day 2 of the Throw Down is following a winter color scheme. When I saw the pretty blues in the scheme I thought of Luke and I's trip to the water playground.

I used The Paper Studio paper for the background, regular brown cardstock for the waves and the splish splash. They were cut out with the Silhouette. I used a Making Memories Colorboard sticker for the frame of the wave. (I need to work on my picture taking of these since you can't see the darkness of the brown.)

My favorite part is using Luke's footprints as the background under these two pictures.

Scrapbook Throw Down Day 1!

I won a 10 day online scrapbook class! Yippee, I need all the help I can get.
The theme of day 1 is using your full 4x6 pictures. I have wanted to do a layout of Luke's first time playing in the snow forever so these are the pics I used. He was only 1 1/2 and I can't believe how big he is now! Anyway, here is a full shot of the main page.


Here is a close up of my glittered letters, they were just blue chipboard but I decided to add glitter. And then a quilled snowflake over the O.





Close up of snowman journaling area, it was cut out on my Christmas present Silhouette Cameo. With stickers added that I found at Hobby Lobby and accents I have had forever. The snowflakes were also cut out with the Silhouette.




Second page, all my pics for the day did not fit on one page. The paper is from the Paper Studio Ornamental Christmas pack. With accents and a couple of stickers thrown in.
